Your choices as a donor

The causes supported by the grants to local registered charities are broad-based and address community needs. Beginning in 2021 registered charities in Yorkton and surrounding communities will be eligible to submit annual proposals for funding. The size and number of grants will increase each year, as the donation pool grows.

The geographical area covered by Yorkton & District Community Foundation is not limited to Yorkton. Donors from any community in the area can access the assistance of Yorkton & District Community Foundation.

Donations become an enduring legacy through endowment (forever) funds. The interest generated by the fund is distributed in the form of grants and the principal amount of the donations remains intact to continue generating revenue for future grants. Donations to an  endowment fund allow the donor to leave a legacy of giving that extends beyond their lifetime.

All granting decisions are the responsibility of the Board of Directors and all individual donations under $10,000 contribute to the Community Endowment, which is an unrestricted fund. Grants from the Community Endowment may support any of the following cause areas:

Arts, Culture, Heritage

  • Krepakevich Fund for Families
  • Children, Youth, Seniors, Families
  • Environment, Animal Welfare
  • Mental Health, Physical Health, Recreation
  • Literacy, Education, Employment Readiness
  • Community Fund (includes all of the above)

Donors contributing larger amounts have options such as named funds, donor advised funds, donor designated and field of interest funds which provide the donor with more say in naming of funds and the granting process, if desired.

Managed funds are another option and can be set up on behalf of a donor or donor group when they want to make an immediate impact with the understanding that managed funds will deplete as the funds are used
